If you’ve ever looked at your teen and thought “who are you?”, you’re not alone. Teens are experience puberty, finding their identity, and dealing with so many pressures. They tend to listen to culture and their friends more than their parents. An honest reply from your teen maybe “I don’t know.”

Finding solid ground during the teenage years can help build a stronger future into adulthood. Jerred has worked with teenagers for over fourteen years as a student pastor and  now a counselor in helping them find stability in turbulent times. Partnering with parents, Jerred brings years of experience that helps build rapport and change to teenage lives. He not only has helped individuals but has also spoken at summer camps and worked with high schools to help teens find a foundation that will launch them into adulthood.

If you’d like an advocate for your teen and family, Jerred is a Christian counselor who can help your teen overcome the hurdles of adolescence and walk alongside them through the growing pains. Parental involvement is always a plus in Jerred’s counseling, too. Schedule a call or book an appointment today.

Common comments from parents

My teen said they needed to talk to someone…

Great! While it’s sometimes scary for a parent, a teen who reaches out and is listened to is so much better off than a teen who is ignored or brushed off. In fact, it reveals your teen felt you were someone safe and loving enough that you could help them find another safe, caring adult.

Take this as your job to find someone they connect with and can get the help they desire.

What if my teen is reluctant to talk to someone but I feel they need to do it?

Around 25% of Jerred’s current clients were once apprehensive teens. The most important factor of client success is having an environment of trust and safety, so time is building and maintaining open communication and understanding. Jerred is far from “cool”, but he is willing to sit and listen to teens, as well as empathize. Challenge your teen to try one session with Jerred and then evaluate it with them afterward.

How do you involve parents in counseling with their teens?

Parental involvement is so important in therapy. While continentality between Jerred and his client is important, parents are always invited to participate in sessions and can debrief with us before or after a session. We can also have parent/teen and family meetings anytime it is needed. A parent will be with the teen long after Jerred.

Can you coordinate with their school or our doctor?

Of course! Let Jerred know during counseling and we’ll coordinate with your teen’s school or doctor.
