Why I Created the ADHD Summer Program
Supporting focus, self-regulation, and confidence—beyond the school year
Summer provides a much-needed break for children and families, but for those with ADHD, it can also mean a loss of structure, increased screen time, and missed opportunities to develop essential skills. I created the ADHD Summer Program to offer a focused, strengths-based approach that helps children reset, build self-awareness, and improve their ability to regulate attention and behavior during these months.
The Need for Continued Support During Summer
Children with ADHD typically spend the school year working hard to meet academic, social, and emotional expectations. While summer offers a break from homework and tests, ADHD symptoms don’t take a vacation. In fact, the reduced routine often makes focus and self-regulation more challenging.
This makes summer an ideal time to develop important skills like:
- Emotional regulation
- Focus and sustained attention
- Executive functioning (planning and follow-through)
- Understanding their own brain and learning style
This program helps children build these skills while providing parents with practical tools to support them.
Why Combine Neurofeedback and Learning about Yourself?
The summer program includes 20 neurofeedback sessions and 10 focused psychoeducational counseling sessions. This combination serves a specific purpose:
- Neurofeedback trains the brain to become calmer, more focused, and better regulated. Over time, children develop improved ability to manage impulsivity, distractibility, and emotional responses.
- Psychoeducational sessions help children and families understand ADHD—not just as a diagnosis, but as a different way of thinking and processing. These sessions include both parent and child meetings and are designed to be informative rather than traditional therapy. In many people, ADHD can actually be their superpower. I believe it can be that for your child.
Together, this approach supports both brain function and self-awareness.
Why Now?
Many families feel overwhelmed during the school year. Adding appointments and trying new approaches while helping their child navigate academic demands can feel overwhelming. Summer offers a unique opportunity.
Without school pressures, we can focus on building habits and skills in a more relaxed environment. It’s also a time when the brain is particularly receptive to developing new patterns.
A Foundation for the School Year Ahead
When children better understand their brain and have strategies that work for them, they begin the school year with greater confidence and resilience. They aren’t starting from scratch in September—they’re starting with advantages.
For parents, this means fewer frustrations, reduced power struggles, and stronger family connections.
Is It Right for Your Family?
This program works best for children and teens who have an ADHD diagnosis or significant attention/executive functioning challenges, and whose families are ready to invest in a summer of development.
The program runs for 10 weeks and includes:
- 20 neurofeedback sessions (2 per week)
- 10 psychoeducational sessions (1 per week)
- Parent involvement
- QEEG brain mapping included
